Stripers, Blues, and Flounder Biting Strong in Boston Harbor This Week
Boston Harbor - Norfolk, MA
Fishing action in and around Boston Harbor is heating up as summer settles in!
Striped Bass are the main attraction right now. Schoolies and slot-sized bass are cruising the harbor, especially around the Deer Island Flats, Long Island Bridge, and Castle Island. Early mornings and late afternoons are producing the best results, with topwater plugs, live mackerel, and soft plastics all getting solid hits.
Bluefish have made a solid showing near outer harbor channels and along rocky shorelines. They’re aggressive and hitting spoons, poppers, and trolled swimmers. Keep wire leaders handy—they’re chewing through mono like candy.
Flounder fishing remains consistent on sandy bottoms near Spectacle Island and off Quincy Bay. Squid-tipped rigs are your best bet, especially on a slow drift during a moving tide.
Mackerel are thick around Boston Light and outer harbor buoys, and they’re not just bait—many anglers are catching them for fun with sabiki rigs.
Tips:
Tide movement is key—plan around it for best results.
Keep your eyes peeled for bird activity; bait balls are drawing in the big predators.
The bite is best during the first few hours after sunrise, so get out early!
